Sprint Curier is the fastest growing fast delivery company in Romania. They were growing so fast that they needed a custom software tool to help them manage their business processes.
The project started in December 2004 with an analysis conducted over their entire activity to see how technology could be applied to their industry. After two months of intensive research, DMS pinpointed how we could process much faster the increased amount of data that they were needing to process everyday due to their growth and how to enable them to decrease the shuffling of paper and authorizations and improve the work flow of documents and packages. DMS presented to Sprint Curier, a software requirements documentation which would help them better manage their activity.
The new system, was to implement bar codes into their activity, and help them delegate and track jobs, manage their accounting, manage their accounts and clients, manage their contacts, manage the packages and the delivery of these packages, etc.
Once the software requirements document was developed and approved, a team of one project manager (PM), 2 developers, and one data base analyst (DBA) were assigned on the project. Because of the complexity of the system it was developed and deployed in modules, so that the development process was interactive, the client was able to see results after a couple of months, and worked along with us to further refine and develop the system as they needed it for their processes. After the system was completely deployed at the beginning of 2006, Sprint was using the software for the following activities:
• manage their employees
• manage their accounts
• manage their contacts
• manage the uses for the software (the software has an administration module which allows them to strictly control the access rights for each and every employee)
• manage their auto fleet
• manage their payroll
• invoicing
• AWB management (packages management)
• Incomings and outgoings
• Management reports
• Activity reports
• AWB tracking (receiving and delivery using bar codes)
• others
Since deployment, the software has been up and running and we have a support and maintenance contract which includes bug fixing, ongoing maintenance and ongoing development (tweaks and features). The feedback from Sprint has been great and we are very proud of our work and our relationship with them due to the size, scope and complexities of the project.
